Oxford covid vaccine: AstraZeneca expects vaccine data this year

AstraZeneca, the British-Swedish drugmaker which has partnered with Oxford University for a covid vaccine, foresees results from the late-stage trials on its experimental COVID-19 vaccine later this year, depending on the rate of infection among trial participants.

AstraZeneca/Oxford is running with Pfizer/BioNTech, Moderna and others to issue the initial complete results from large COVID-19 vaccine trials. A vaccine is perceived as the world’s safest bet for beating the pandemic.

AstraZeneca has secured billions in funding and approved multiple contracts to supply over three billion doses to countries in the world. Nevertheless, a UK official said on Wednesday the delivery timetable for shots had slipped.
