United States Department of Defense shared on Monday that Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin was released from the Walter Reed hospital.
In a statement, the Pentagon noted that the treatment went well and was effective, adding that currently, no further treatments are necessary and that Austin will only be checking in regularly for post-prostatectomy surveillance.
“The Secretary continues to recover well and, on the advice of doctors, will recuperate and perform his duties remotely for a period of time before returning full-time to the Pentagon. He has full access to required secure communications capabilities,” it was said in the statement.
