Russia to restrict Instagram access

Russian Prosecutor General’s Office requested that the Federal Service for Supervision in the Sphere of Telecom, Information Technologies and Mass Communications (Roskomnadzor) restrict access to Instagram in the country. Earlier, Prosecutor General’s Office asked that Meta Platforms Inc., the parent company of Instagram and Facebook, be labeled as an extremist organization.

Russia already banned Facebook last week after claiming the social media network is “involved in the violation of fundamental human rights and freedoms, as well as the rights and freedoms of Russian citizens.”
