MILITARY ADVANCEMENTS
• Intense fighting continues. The Ukrainian Defence Forces are restraining the Russian assault actions in several directions. Most of all, the Russians focused on storming Chasiv Yar, Donetsk Oblast, because this city could potentially open the way to other cities in this region. Putin ordered its troops to take Chasiv Yar by May 9 because Russian propaganda is in dire need of a symbolic “victory” at any cost.
• Intense positional fighting continues along the entire contact line. The Ukrainian Defence Forces are in control of the situation. Ukrainian troops not only deter the enemy’s onslaught, but also have significant achievements.
• Ukraine fighting for victory. Ukraine is not only defending itself, but also has plans for a counteroffensive. Russia has a quantitative advantage in weapons and human resources. However, Ukraine is able to gain a qualitative, including technological, advantage.
UKRAINE INCREASES DEFENCE PRODUCTION
• Ukraine already produces 90% of its needs for UAVs, including long-range and marine drones. In April, Ukraine managed to increase the production of Bohdana self-propelled howitzer to 10 per month, and in May, this figure will only grow.
• Capacity of the Ukrainian military-industrial complex is currently about 20 billion USD. Denmark adopted an unprecedented decision: the new aid package for Ukraine includes 28.5 million USD for the purchase of weapons and military equipment for the Armed Forces of Ukraine from Ukrainian manufacturers.
RENAISSANCE OF UKRAINE – AFRICA RELATIONS
• Ukraine aims to build strong relations with African countries. During the last few years, the renaissance of Ukraine – Africa diplomatic relations began. Ukraine’s strategic expansion of diplomatic presence across Africa, with recent embassy openings in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Ghana, Côte d’Ivoire, Mozambique, and Botswana, marks a pivotal moment.
• This bold move signifies a deep commitment to forging powerful partnerships and unlocking a wealth of multilateral and mutually beneficial cooperation across the continent. ️
• Opening of new Ukrainian embassies in Africa and the planned expansion into Mauritania, Cameroon, and Sudan demonstrates Ukraine’s commitment to strengthening its diplomatic presence on the continent, fostering mutually beneficial partnerships, and promoting peace and development in Africa.
