Russian war against Ukraine: Present situation (Ukrainian Embassy in Tunisia)

SITUATION AT THE FRONTLINE

  • Counter-offensive operations of the Defence Forces of Ukraine are ongoing. Their goal is deoccupation, liberation of territories seized by Russian invaders. Ukrainian soldiers are forced to overcome well-fortified enemy positions, while inflicting huge losses on the invaders. In the south, 12.6 km2 was liberated; the overall liberated territory is 204.7 km2.
  • The aggressor is trying to advance on several sections of the front in the east. In the Svatove direction, the Defence Forces conducted stabilization measures, the movement of enemy troops in this area was eliminated.

RUSSIA’S GRAIN TERROR

  • After Russia withdrew from the Black Sea Grain Initiative, the Russian army destroyed 180,000 tons of grain, 26 port infrastructure objects, and five civilian vessels in nine days.
  • The purpose of the Russian attacks is to block the export of Ukrainian grain to take revenge on Ukraine and the world for repelling the aggression.
  • Using terror, Russia seeks to oust Ukraine from world grain markets to take its place and establish a monopoly.
  • Russia is playing the “hunger games” with countries critically dependent on Ukrainian food to blackmail them into taking its side.

WAGNER IN BELARUS

  • Wagner private military company in Belarus is a tool of Russian hybrid warfare. The number of Russian mercenaries in this country is only about 5,000 and they aren`t armed with heavy arms and equipment. may deny their responsibility for their possible provocations.
  • Nevertheless, the Russian and Belarusian regimes may easily use Wagnerians as a convenient tool in their attempts to create chaos on the western flank of NATO. As a possible target for provocations the Suwałki Gap may be chosen — a narrow strip of the border of NATO members Poland and Lithuania.
  • However, the borders of Ukraine and NATO countries with Belarus are reliably equipped and covered by troops. Possible destabilization attempts of Russian mercenaries are futile.

RUSSIA AND THE TALIBAN

  • Russian authorities announced the official invitation of the Taliban regime to a forum in Kazan, dedicated to the fight against terrorism and drug crime.
  • The Taliban movement, which now controls Kabul, does not have international recognition as the legitimate authority of Afghanistan.
  • Although the Taliban is officially banned in Russia as a terrorist organization, the Russian authorities maintain active contacts with it. Moscow’s cooperation with the Taliban poses a risk of intensifying international terrorism.
  • Assisting the Taliban and military juntas in Africa testifies to the hypocrisy of Russia, whose propaganda broadcasts against the “international terrorism” and “coups d’état.”
