Samsung Electronics Co.’s Vice Chairman Jay Y. Lee was pardoned by South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol on Friday, the country’s Ministry of Justice revealed.
Lee, who has been on parole since August 2021 after serving 18 months in jail, was sentenced to 2 and a half years over bribery, which involved country’s ex-President Park Geun-hye.
In addition to Lee, the Yoon pardoned over 1,600 individuals, with the absolution coming into force from Liberation Day on Monday.
