Scotland’s chief medical officer Catherine Calderwood has officially stepped down from her position after apologising for visiting her second home during the coronavirus lockdown.
Calderwood stated she was “deeply sorry” and resigned “with a heavy heart”.
She said she recognised with First Minister Nicola Sturgeon that the “justifiable focus” on her behaviour endangered diverting from the pandemic response.
