Slovakia likely to prolong lockdown until December 16

Slovakia’s Health Ministry announced on Monday it plans to request from the cabinet to extend the coronavirus-related lockdown measures by an additional week until December 16.

Slovakia has been under a tight lockdown since November 25, with non-essential shops and services shut in face of the country’s worst coronavirus outbreak to date.

Health authorities reported nearly 9,000 new COVID-19 cases on average over the past week, with record 15,278 infections registered on December 3.
