Taliban ‘could make life incredibly difficult’ after Aug. 31 – Wallace

United Kingdom’s Defense Secretary Ben Wallace said on Tuesday that the Taliban “could make life incredibly difficult” for the British troops in Afghanistan if international forces do not withdraw from the country by August 31. He estimated the consequences “would range from preventing people getting to the airport all the way through to military activity that could potentially close the airport.”

In an interview for BBC 4, Wallace admitted “not everyone will get out” of Afghanistan. “Our focus is to get as many people out. We are ruthlessly prioritizing people,” he added. The secretary also rejected bringing in more troops, as they would be “shot at, attacked and trigger a permanent fight.”
