Tunisia-1,415 primary schools do not have drinking water

In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, pupils and teachers in more than a thousand primary schools in Tunisia do not have access to water. Minister of Education Fathi Slaouti announced, affirming that this file is among the priorities of his department.

During a hearing by the Youth Commission for Cultural Affairs and Scientific Research, Mr Slaouti announced that 1,415 primary schools are not yet attached to the national water network.

461 schools of them have difficulties with a steady supply of drinking water.

Emphasizing that this file is one of the priorities of the ministry for the succeeding school year, he stated that in addition to the assistance of civil society, an envelope of 6.313 million dinars will be dedicated to the development of sanitary blocks in 143 educational establishments.
