Tunisia-UTAP warns against importing toxic vegetables

Tunisian Union of Agriculture and Fisheries “UTAP”  executive board member Ibrahim Trabelsi called on to instantly halt all imports of vegetables into Tunisia.

This call comes with the purpose of preserving national productions, but additionally to caution against toxic agricultural products that have been imported from Egypt.

Cited by several media, he called for an inquiry into the import of 1,600 tons of vegetables from Egypt, evoking that many nations have stopped the import of Egyptian vegetables due to the nature of irrigation water.

He said in this sense that the Ministry of Commerce pledged to stop all imports of vegetables into Tunisia, but allowed the import of 1,600 tons of vegetables from Egypt.
