Five detainees, Ahmed Melki alias “The Somali”, Ameur Balâazi, Raed Touati, Alaa Ghazouani and Nader Ghanmi, all implicated in several terrorist cases including the assassinations of Chokri Belaïd and Mohamed Brahmi, escaped from Mornaguia prison on the 31st last October before being captured a few days later.
This case, which attracted public attention for several days, is far from being closed. After the capture of Ahmed Melki, on November 5 in Ettadhamen city, then of the other four fugitives, on November 7 at Mount Boukornine, another case opened, that of the circumstances of their escape.
In this case, 18 officers from the Mornaguia civil prison have been placed in police custody since October 31, the date of the escape of the five terrorists and 8 of them will appear before the Anti-Terrorism Judicial Unit after the deadlines have expired detention.
