Tunisia-50 doctors and 300 paramedics died from coronavirus

The regional health directorate in Monastir declared this Tuesday, December 8, 2020, the death of Dr Jamel Attaoui. He was doctor practising in the basic health centre in Moknine. The deceased passed yesterday Monday, December 7, 2020, after a fight against the new coronavirus.

According to the president of the National Council of the Order of Physicians, Dr Slim Ben Salah, no less than 50 physicians and 300 paramedics (technicians, nurses, etc.) have died from Covid-19 since the outbreak of the pandemic last February.

The passing of certain medical and paramedical executives generated controversy and stirred the anger of public opinion. Demonstration movements have recently taken place to expose the catastrophic functioning conditions in most of the country’s hospitals. Doctors and nurses denounced the non-respect by the Ministry of Health of its responsibilities linking to the provision of the necessary means of protection.
