Tunisia-Abdellatif Mekki: Kais Saied contradicts himself

Remarking on the speech delivered yesterday by the President of the Republic, Abdellatif Mekki considered that Kais Saied contradicted himself by declaring the halt of the constitution while reemphasising his commitment to respect its provisions.
He said putting in place transitional arrangements and lengthening the exceptional measures formally announces the suspension of the Constitution, questioning Kais Saied’s promises on rights and freedoms. Mekki likewise called Kais Saied’s speech a divisor, believing that the role of the President of the Republic is rather to appease tensions.
