Tunisia-Abderrazak Mokhtar: Kais Saied tries to impose his own project [Audio]

Speaking to Tunisie Numérique, Professor of Constitutional Law Abderrazzek Mokhtar remarked on the discourse delivered by President Kais Saied on the sidelines of the National Security Council meeting. Mokhtar called Kais Saied’s practices improper, indicating that in this way the state of emergency will experience an actual divergence.
The professor cautioned against this choice, demonstrating that we must go from a state of emergency to the transitional period until reaching the constituent phase. He confirmed that the exceptional period mandates normal management of the workings of the State without going through the implementation of new measures.
“The drafting of the Constitution can in no case be accomplished within the framework of the constituent stage. There are several reservations expressed concerning the Constitution, which requires amendments ”he revealed, remarking that the general situation in the nation does not require a new Constitution.
The speaker recalled that the Head of State is carrying unilateral decisions based on personal analysis in the absence of deals with the political class revealing that Saied’s choice is invalid on several levels.
“The president is inflicting his own project. After having monopolized legislative and executive power and attempted to gain control of the judiciary, Saied is now aiming to monopolize constituent power ”adds the same source.
