Tunisia-Abir Moussi calls on Kais Saied to apologize for his last words

PDL leader Abir Moussi addressed the last discourse of the President of the Republic Kais Saied delivered on the sidelines of the award ceremony for the Quran memorization competition. The PDL condemned the religious speech of the President of the Republic highlighting that it is contradictory to the foundations of the Tunisian civil status.

According to the party, the speech in question breaks the principle of separation between religion and state. The party likewise criticized the Tunisian state’s acceptance of the wearing of the veil by young girls and the dissemination of an obscurantist ideology as well as the usage of a Shiite connotation in the speech. Moussi, accordingly, called on the Head of State to apologize for his remarks which undermine the Tunisian State, calling for the removal of the speech from the official page of the presidency.
