Tunisia-Abir Moussi Convoked by Counter Terrorism Division on alleged connections between Ennahda MPs and detainees

President of the Free Destourian Party (PDL) Abir Moussi announced she was convoked by the Judicial Counter-Terrorism Division on Monday for a hearing.

The hearing links to the letter she had received, through the registry office of the Parliament, on a visit made by MPs of Ennahdha to detainees over terrorist crimes in the prisons of El Mournaguia and Borj El Amri, the TAP reported.

Speaking during a press conference at the headquarters of the Parliament, Moussi stated the correspondence indicates that “MPs from Ennahdha travelled at night to the two prisons in question to visit terrorists with the cooperation of the directors of the two prisons and the director-general of prisons and rehabilitation.”

Moussi called for a serious and clear probe to discover the authenticity of these data and to disclose the identity of the MPs and the terrorists concerned by these visits as well as the parties who facilitated the operation.

She also urged the Minister of Justice to launch an administrative investigation into the charges against the directors of Mornaguia and Borj el Amri prisons and to present a detailed report to the HPR.

“Tunisians have the right to know what is going on in Tunisian prisons, especially considering the vague outcome of terrorist cases,” she said.

Moussi believes that “Tunisian prisons have experienced a dubious and suspicious situation since the leader of Ennahdha movement Noureddine Bhiri was appointed Justice Minister.”

She expressed her will to know the truth and to “work for the withdrawal of confidence of the parliament Speaker Rached Ghannouchi.”

For her, it is a question of “changing the parliamentary majority as the first step in order to unblock the situation in parliament and the political landscape and thus begin a new step.”
