Tunisia- Adnen Hajji: Tunisia is in a state of undeclared bankruptcy

Adnen Hajji stated the review of the state budget and the budget law by parliament is a completely formal matter. In fact, the MP concluded that Tunisia would already be in a state of undeclared bankruptcy.

He evoked that members of Parliament are incapable to address the figures given by the government. The latter is exclusively asked to discuss the general policies adopted, he replied.

The MP said that not least because of the deferential demonstration movements, the nation is left without resources and has no option but to resort to loans. Nevertheless, even at this level, obstacles exist, among others, because of Tunisia’s non-compliance with its obligations towards the IMF, he explained.

Concerning the consequences of the Coronavirus, Hajji pointed out that the payment made for this purpose is being exaggerated by the authorities concerned.

In the lack of decisions and reforms, the years to come will be hard, added the MP who likewise emphasised that the speeches of the Head of Government and the House speaker  have made the situation even worse.
