National Salvation Front leader Ahmed Nejib Chebbi, confirmed in a statement to private radio today on the sidelines of a popular meeting organized by the front in Tataouine, that the head of the state Kais Saied had done well when he talked well of political activist, the late Maya Jribi, and the tribute he paid to her as president of the republic, during the Ministerial Council meeting.
“But it is more crucial to know his intentions. Was this gesture spontaneous or as part of a tackle from the forces to which the deceased belonged?“, he asked. Chebbi likewise emphasised that this gesture will have no effect on the public scene, that said, the dispute is still continuing between the two parties.
On the other hand, Chebbi asserted that he “has given everything to defend freedom, democracy and social progress in Tunisia for 50 years and thinks that those who “fast during all this period do not have the right to break their fast with a grasshopper”. In other words, Chebbi is not willing to compromise in the twilight of his life.
