“All hospitals in Tunisia are now concerned with the health care of people infected with the Coronavirus, without them being obliged to go to hospitals in other regions, “Member of the Scientific Committee for the Fight against the coronavirus (COVID-19) Habib Ghédira on Friday.
Speaking to the TAP, Ghedira indicated that the general directorate of health has sent a correspondence to all health structures, asking them to take care of cases carrying the Coronavirus, stressing that this decision cancels previous decisions concerning the referral of patients to the health of the structure.
“The application of this decision requires the rehabilitation of the Covid-19 circuits in public hospitals and the provision of infected people of a specialized space until they are subjected to laboratory analyzes”, Guedira said, noting that “patients with coronavirus will be accommodated in hospitals in the event of their deteriorating state of health, so that they are isolated”.
He stressed that all hospital services are called upon to take care of patients, explaining that this procedure reflects the abandonment of the policy favoring the allocation of a specific hospital to Covid-19 patients, as was previously with Abderrahmane Mami Hospital in Ariana, designated to accommodate only Coronavirus patients.
The person in charge indicated in this sense, that the suspected cases will be directed towards circuits of Covid-19, then accommodated in a medical isolation room and subjected to laboratory analyzes.
People whose tests turn out negative will be allowed to leave, while the others will be directed to hospital accommodation.
It should be noted that a working session was held on Friday in the presence of the Director General of Health, Taher Guergueh, the Directors General and the heads of the emergency and medical resuscitation services of the university hospitals of the Greater Region. Tunis, concerning the monitoring and availability of Covid-19 circuits within these establishments as well as the provision of health services to all patients who go there, including cases carrying the Coronavirus.
