Tunisia- Amendments to Law on Criminal Conciliation, published in JORT

The amendments to Decree-Law No. 13 of March 20, 2022, on criminal conciliation, adopted by MPs, were published in the Official Journal of the Tunisian Republic (JORT), this Thursday, January 18, 2024.

Note that the House of People’s Representatives adopted this bill in its amended version on Wednesday, January 17, with 123 votes in favour and 3 abstentions.

The bill is part of “the governance of the working methods of the National Penal Conciliation Commission. It also places the consequences of conciliation, whether momentary or lasting and the approved legal procedures, such as the integration of national projects of importance and interest among the projects eligible for the financial advantages of conciliation.

As a reminder, the President of the Republic, Kaïs Saïed called, in December, for the amendment of the bill to its old version. This amendment, described as promising, includes many chapters, including chapters 7, 8, 23, 36, 37 and 35, which are considered the solid pillar of the reconciliation process.
