Tunisia – Arab League mission of observers asks to investigate the low rate of participation of voters

The mission of the observers of the Arab States League for the legislative elections of December 17, requested the “concerned authorities” to investigate to know the profound reasons for the great abstention of voters with a participation rate of barely 8.8%.

The mission considers that this low rate of Tunisian voters is due to the new electoral system on people, years of support for political parties, as well as the small number of candidates with, sometimes, one candidate per Constituency.
