Speaking to Tunisie Numérique, director of the Institut Pasteur in Tunis and chairman of the vaccination commission Hechmi Louzir talked about the discovery of the new variant of the Coronavirus “Omicron”. Louzir disclosed that this mutation was caught in Tunisia thanks to the intensification of tests and the tightening of entry conditions for those desiring to access Tunisian territory after the outbreak of the 5th wave in Europe.
To curb the spread of the virus, Louzir indicated that authorities have begun administering the 3rd dose of the Covid-19 vaccine for people aged 18 and over who have received the 2nd dose of the vaccine for 5 months.
