Tunisia-Av.Habib Bourguiba demonstration: Ministry of the Interior lifts the veil on the number of demonstrators

The interior ministry disclosed that the number of people who took part in the protests at Habib Bourguiba Avenue this afternoon did not surpass 1,200 people. The ministry added that the latter did not respect the administration decision on the prohibition of gatherings in public and open spaces taken to curb the spread of the virus.

According to the same press release, the demonstrators tried to remove the security barriers and attack the security forces mobilized to secure the safety of citizens. Security forces exerted discipline before resorting to the use of water cannons to disperse them, the statement said.
The Ministry of the Interior called on citizens to respect the sanitary actions taken by the government of Bouden and not to be carried away by calls for the organization of illegal demonstrations.
