Tunisia-Béja: raids against speculators [Video]

The Regional Director of Commerce in Béja, Yosri Damergi, confirmed to Tunisie Numérique that the services of the Regional Directorate of Commerce conducted 941 raids against speculators during February and recorded 242 violations, most of which relate to raw materials, vegetables and fruits.

Below are the quantities of food products seized:

  • 5024 packets of Tunisian brand cigarettes
  • 4094 Kg of pasta
  • 2700 litres of subsidized vegetable oil
  • 980 Kg of subsidized semolina
  • 15,865 Kg of subsidized sugar
  • 3240 Kg of durum wheat
  • 1900 Kg of refined wheat
  • 30 tons of ammonium nitrate
  • 960 cans of tomato puree
  • 300 kg of margarine

The speaker declared the continuation of these operations at an increasing rate until the ending of the month of Ramadan in order to secure the supply of food to the market.
