Tunisia-Béja: The region foresees a production of over 32 thousand tonnes of olives

Speaking to Tunisie Numérique, the director of agricultural production at the regional delegation of Beja Abdelmajid Ouled Seghaier declared that a working session took place today in the attendance of the parties concerned. He said the meeting centred on the production of pomegranates and citrus as well as the evaluation of last year’s harvest season.
Seghaier added that the status of preparations for the current year’s harvest season was further discussed, adding that there are difficulties and challenges faced in 2020 that have enabled the development of some agricultural information.
Announcing the imminent start of the olive harvesting season, the official emphasised that the parties concerned have forecast production of up to 40,000 tonnes of olives. Nevertheless, the region will foresee producing 32,500 tonnes of olives due to the lack of rainfall and the dramatic surge in temperatures.
