Tunisia – Ben Arous governor attracts wrath of civil society and protectors of animals

The governor of Ben Arous, Ezzeddine Chalbi, doesn’t miss the chance to be talked about, and not always in a good way.

His last outing gained him the wrath of civil society and, more particularly, animal protectors, in a telegram to the mayors of his region, requesting them to prepare well for an exceptional campaign of hunting for stray dogs. He asked them in substance to arm themselves appropriately and to refuel in ammunition, to succeed in their campaign.

These orders go against common sense and knowledge in the fight against stray dogs.

Indeed, everywhere in the world, studies and experience have categorically indicated the ineffectiveness of the slaughter campaigns of stray dogs, and that these massacres have no effect, apart from people before so many atrocities.

It is, moreover, an archaic method employed to conceal its helplessness in keeping a certain degree of hygiene in cities. Indeed, it would have been enough to take care of the collection of garbage in the roads, to deprive these dogs of their pantry, to push them to leave the premises.

That is to say the ineffectiveness and the atrocity of these barbaric methods. And while the whole world, including many Tunisian municipalities, is moving towards realistic solutions which consist in capturing stray dogs, sterilizing them and vaccinating them before releasing them, destitute of any nuisance power and above all, that To reproduce, our governor of Ben Arous takes the opposing path, and desires to bring back his citizens in the Middle Ages of the fight against stray dogs, during the time of large epidemics.

To see the campaign that the governor’s orders have aroused, on social networks, he should anticipate many virulent responses, even abroad, which he will have to undergo and assume!
