Tunisia – Bizerte: 36 injured in accident of truck transporting agricultural workers

36 people were wounded in an accident when a truck transporting female agricultural workers skidded and fell off the side of the road, at regional road No. 51 relating Bizerte to Sejnane, 18 kilometers west of Bizerte, according to statements by the regional director of civil protection.

The same source specified that the accident happened in Henchir Bouchtib of the Bizerte South Delegation, adding that all the services concerned, in particular civil protection, the national guard and security, in addition to the health services, were responsible for saving the injured and directing them to the Habib Bougatfa University Hospital in Bizerte.

A medical source at the hospital stated most of the injuries were “not serious” and that most of them suffered minor fractures that were treated quickly, adding that the state of health of the injured was considered “stable”. A number of them were permitted to leave, while two people were kept in hospital for treatment.

For their part, the security services investigated to determine the circumstances of the incident.
