Tunisia-Brigadier General Chokri Jabri: “Enormous numbers registered in combating drug smuggling” [Video]

In response to the escalating issue of drug smuggling, the General Administration of Customs has reported statistics concerning the various forms of this menace, which has greatly increased in recent years. This information was disclosed by the General Administration of Customs spokesperson, Brigadier General Shukri Al-Jabri.

In a statement given to Tunisie Numerique, on Monday, March 4, 2024, Brigadier Jabri disclosed that since the beginning of the year, customs officers have seized 160 grams of cocaine at one of the Tunis-Carthage International Airport stores. Further, another quantity was seized at the Ras Jedir office, along with about 2 kilograms of cannabis.

He stressed that efforts to all types of smuggling, including drugs and other substances, are ongoing, underlining the commitment to safeguarding the interests of Tunisia. The data for 2023 and the quantities thwarted by the Diwani Guards highlight the substantial amounts of drugs being tackled.
