Tunisia – Wanted notice against former minister: Mabrouk Kourchid explains

After the news of the issuance of a search warrant against a former Minister of State Property and Real Estate, the person concerned, in this case, Mabrouk Korchid, published a post to explain the issue, arguing that he suffers from a health issue, and will soon appear before the courts, before which he has appeared several times.

He confirmed, in this post that he learned, through social networks and the media, that a search warrant had been issued against him by the sixth investigating judge of the financial judicial pole.

Concerning the case, he confirmed that he was heard on June 22, and for more than 13 hours in a row, during which the investigating judge interrogated him on all points of the case. file, in the presence of his lawyers, and that he was obliged to answer to the “nonsense accumulated in the file by the organizations “I Watch” and “Raqaba”, with which he claimed to be in conflict for more than five years.

He clarified that the case is linked to the issue of what is now known as the “lifting of the freezing of Marwan Al-Mabrouk funds” file. Korchid confirmed and provided full proof that the procedures leading to this lifting of the European Union restricted list were carried out after he departed from the government at the end of October 2018 and after a full year, i.e. in 2019. He added that his position was known, and was founded on his categorical rejection of any leniency on the potential rights of the state

He assured that he obtained a summons to appear on 02/27/2024 at noon, to complete the interrogation and investigation. But he had to be absent for health reasons.

He added that he would appear before the investigating judge as soon as possible, as usual, accompanied by his fellow lawyers.
