Economist Ridha Chkoundali remarked on the delay in the submission of the final report by the Public Service Investigation Committee. Furthermore, he stressed that the growth in public sector wages has not been accompanied by substantial economic growth. He mentioned 2012 as a year characterised by a surge in secondments to public jobs, totalling around 80,000, some of which were arbitrary, implicating forged certificates or party loyalties. He likewise mentioned that certain influential unions manipulated the social and administrative chaos to try to control the administration, bypassing national debates.
He also underlined the negative effect of a poor business climate, marked by social unrest and demands for accountability among businessmen.
