Minister of Religious Affairs, Ibrahim Chaibi moved to Sfax today to bid farewell to the pilgrims who left the country in the direction of Mecca. He estimated in a statement to Tunisie Numérique that the Hajj rates for this year were reasonable, thanks to the President of the Republic, Kais Saied, who interfered to decrease the costs.
Chaibi said that the ticket price has been reduced to 3100 thousand dinars and the accommodation rates have been reduced to around 13 thousand dinars. Regarding the amendment of Article 1 of the Constitution, the minister confirmed that the ministry in question has not yet been consulted on this subject.
“Even if we will refer to a civil state in the new constitution, it will be a civil state for a Muslim people. Sovereignty belongs to the people, it is they who choose,” he said. He explained that the Ministry of Religious Affairs does not only represent Islamist Affairs but rather all religions.
