Tunisia: Compulsory and free vaccination campaign for cats and dogs against rabies

The Ministry of Agriculture reported the beginning of the national rabies vaccination campaign in the various governorates of the country.

Vaccination, which is mandatory and free, will continue until January 2024. The ministry specified that the vaccination campaign involves dogs and cats, and it will be carried out by work teams who will travel to the different regions of the country.

Due to the delicate health situation and the risk that rabies represents for the health of humans and animals, the ministry calls on citizens to contribute to the success of this campaign and to facilitate the mission of the work teams.

According to official statistics from the Ministry of Health, the number of cases attacked by suspicious animals grew from 30 thousand cases in 2010 to nearly 42 thousand cases in 2022. 31pc of recorded cases are perpetrated by stray dogs.
