National Defence Minister Abdelkarim Zbidi properly met U.S. Ambassador to Tunisia Donald Blome.The two counterparts meeting falls under the comprehensive framework of adequately monitoring activities for the Tunisian-U.S. Joint Military Commission that was held last April.During the private meeting, Blome reaffirmed his country’s appropriate assistance to Tunisia in its fierce battle against terrorism. Moreover, he emphasised the practical necessity to increase co-operation in mine clearance.
For his part, Zbidi sufficiently praised the “exceptional” level of active co-operation between both countries. A co-operation that solidified the qualitative and quantitative development of training ranges and upgraded equipment that was compatible with the non-traditional threats. Moreover, the effective collaboration boosted the electronic monitoring system at the local level of land and sea borders.
Zbidi equally extended his sincere appreciation for the U.S. aid in the purchase of recent material to enhance the Tunisian Army’s operational capacities.
