Tunisia-Defense Committee: “Putschist authorities” behind Namaa affair [Video]

Speaking at a press conference organized today, attorney and member of the defence committee Mokhar Jemaï revealed that a denunciation was at the root of the legal case against Namaa association. “In the normal case, the Presidency of the Government, the Ministry of the Interior or the Central Bank orders the opening of an inquiry-based on correct and reliable information,” Jemaï said.

The lawyer confirmed that “Namaa” is not a charity clarifying that its goal is to boost economic development in the country, adding that it is dedicated to the principle of transparency with regard to its activities and its tax reports. Jemaï said that the legal case began on the orders of the “putschist” authorities and, for purely political reasons.

These reasons have, according to him, aggravated the decline of the general situation in the country on all fronts. According to the member of the defense committee, the authorities took advantage of the dismissal of judges and the suspension of work in the courts to deal with the case as they pleased. “This case likewise falls within a fairly specific political framework,” adds Jemaï.
