Tunisia: DOCUMENT: Al Karama coalition demands apology and compensation from France

Al Karama parliamentary coalition submitted to the parliament bureau a document signed by Al Karama Coalition secretary-general Seifeddine Makhlouf which offers a resolution demanding France compensation for the looting and the atrocities committed against the Tunisian people, during colonization and after.
The document evokes that the French Republic perpetrated all potential violations against the Tunisian people during colonization, such as robbery, abduction, rape, assassinations, kidnappings … Just as it stole the property of the country and citizens like natural wealth. The coalition specifies, further, that France proceeded to commit the atrocities against the Tunisians, after independence by allying itself with the power on the spot, which it qualified as dictatorial, until the start of the revolution, when France did not delay to offer its help to the Tunisian government, to silence the demonstrators.

For this, the Al Karama coalition necessitates an official and public apology from the French government, as well as the payment of compensation to its victims and their dependents. The coalition demands, moreover, from France, the publication of all its archives related to the period of colonization of Tunisia.
