Tunisia-Dr.Daghfous:Peak of seasonal flu to be in February [Video]

Speaking to Tunisie Numérique, member of the Scientific Committee and Director General of the National Center for Pharmacovigilance, Dr. Riad Daghfous confirmed that the peak of seasonal influenza is expected at the start of February and then gradually decreases.

He underscored that the cases registered in hospitals and sanatoriums are related to seasonal influenza infections, not the new strain of the coronavirus. Dr Daghfous stated that viral infections are typically recorded, particularly at the beginning of November.

According to Dr. Daghfous, the number of cases of seasonal influenza has grown compared to the previous year, and there has been a slight increase in the severity of the disease.

He urged the elderly, those with chronic diseases, and pregnant women to take preventative measures and get vaccinated against seasonal influenza. Further, Dr Daghfous stressed the importance of everyone to practice preventive measures, including handwashing, ventilating offices and homes, staying away from infected people , wearing masks in case of illness, and avoiding contact with infants under 3 months old.
