Tunisia-Ennahdha concerned about extension of exceptional measures

Ennahdha responded, in a press release published this Tuesday, August 24, 2021, to the decision of the President of the Republic, Kaïs Saïed, to prolong the exceptional measures, undertaken on July 25.

The movement estimated that Saied infringed article 80 of the Constitution on July 25, revealing its concern about the ambiguity surrounding the future of the nation, after the extension of the state of emergency. The party further called for Dialogue “which is the single solution to all the country’s problems,” the statement read.

Ennahdha further reiterated the need to appoint a new prime minister and to present his team to Parliament so that it obtains the confidence of the latter.

In conclusion, the party called for an end to many forms of abuse of constitutional rights including travel bans, house arrest and censorship.
