Tunisia: Ennahdha shura council calls to boycott the referendum

Its official, Ennahdha Shura Council has made public its position concerning the referendum of July 25, 2022. In a press release, published this Friday, July 15, the Shura Council reveals that it rejects the referendum and calls for its boycott.

It justifies its position which is part of the rejection of the coup process initiated by President Kais Saied. It likewise believes that the draft of the new constitution remains illegitimate. In its press release, the Shura Council stated that “the results of the referendum are known in advance, and that this referendum is only a means of inflicting a constitution which will permit the president to concentrate all the powers “. The Shura Council also considers that the president of Ennahdha, Rached Ghannouchi remains politically targeted and that his freedom is threatened. Ultimately, it calls on all political and civil forces to unite to save the nation from dictatorship.
