Tunisia-EXCLUSIVE: Italian government stepped in to assist Tunisia to get rid of imported waste

Tunisie Numerique learned, from a reliable source, that the Italian administration has intervened to assist Tunisia in reshipping the containers of Italian waste, which is the subject of significant controversy that has been going on for weeks. This intervention goes back to ten days ago, So it was arranged with the aim of settling down a  bone of contention, and it has nothing to do with the arrests of some Tunisian officials that dates back to only two days ago.

Although it is a business-to-business conflict, between a private Italian company and Tunisian one, the Italian government, having, certainly, realised that there was something fishy going on, intervened ten days ago by writing to ask the regional council which is responsible over the Italian company, so that it intervenes with it, to take back the containers that are subjects of the controversy.

Because, although it is a matter of two private companies, the Italian administration was keen to intervene as it estimates Tunisia to be a first-class partner.

According to our sources, the council of the region reached the Italian company which had shipped the containers of household waste to Tunisia, asking it to make sure to reimport these containers, and that this case would be on the edge of knowing its outcome!
