Tunisia-Families of Tunisian youths in Syria call on government to repatriate their children

A number of families of Tunisian youths in Syria, Tuesday, rallied, outside the seat of the Foreign Affairs Ministry calling on the government to repatriate their children.

More particularly, they called on President of the Republic Kais Saied as well as the Foreign Affairs Ministry to hasten the evacuation of their children, especially as they “have been granted pardon from Syrian authorities.”

“Our children have not committed any murder or acts of vandalism,” families said.

Speaking to TAP, a mother of a Tunisian young man in Syria said that there are 43 Tunisian nationals in Syria including her son. They have all been offered pardon since 2013 by the Syrian authorities, she added. “They were accused only of illegally crossing the Syrian borders,” she pointed out.

The 43 Tunisians are allowed to return to Tunisia yet Tunisian authorities have not taken any action in that direction yet, the same source indicated.
