Tunisia-Fight against exclusion at center of Saïed-Hachani meeting

President of the Republic, Kais Saied, met this afternoon, Wednesday, January 10, 2024, with prime minister, Ahmed El Hachani at Carthage Palace.

The meeting examined the progress of the government’s work in general and several draft laws and decrees that were discussed at the last meeting of the Council of Ministers in particular.

Among the most significant projects emphasised by the President of the Republic is that relating to the fight against social and financial exclusion.

The President of the Republic stated that he preferred that this project bear this name rather than that of integration, because the desired integration can only be accomplished by eradicating the causes of exclusion, clarifying in this context that many concepts developed abroad have expired, on top of that they have only led to further exclusion and marginalization.

Regrettably, there are people in Tunisia who continue to approach these concepts without acknowledging their origins and without taking into consideration their consequences. Exclusion stems from certain misguided decisions and external dictates. To overcome this, we must depend on our own capabilities and choices originating from within. Integration can only be realized via the collective will of the people, grounded in principles of justice and equity, and with the State fulfilling its social role.”
