Tunisia-FM Jerandi and South Korean counterpart argue for fair global distribution of coronavirus vaccine

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad Othman Jerandi, on Wednesday, held a phone conversation with his South Korean counterpart Kang Kyung-wha.

The two sides emphasised the necessity to ensure access to and fair global distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine, based on the principle of international solidarity in the face of this pandemic that hit all peoples without exception.

They highlighted the significance of consolidating bilateral and multilateral efforts to activate the Tunisia-France Resolution No. 2532 adopted by the Security Council on the COVID-19 pandemic.

Mr Jerandi and Kang Kyung-wha displayed the two countries’ dedication to promoting their partnership in various fields, including trade, economic development, health, e-governance, scientific and technological cooperation, to serve the two peoples’ interests.

They agreed to proceed consultations and coordination as well as the arrangement for the next bilateral meetings and the intensification of visits between senior officials, the Foreign Affairs Department said in a press release.

The South Korean Foreign Minister voiced her country’s support for Tunisia’s democratic transition and its commitment to extend this support to other areas.

Jerandi welcomed South Korea’s support for Tunisia, while expressing Tunisia’s eagerness to build a partnership with South Korea, which economic experience is exemplary.

The FM pointed to Tunisia’s strategic geographical position, particularly on the continental scale, allowing it to have access to African markets.
