Tunisia- Founder of Jeune Afrique Bechir Ben Yahmed dies from Coronavirus

Born in Djerba on April 2, 1928, Franco-Tunisian journalist and founder of Jeune Afrique, Bechir Ben Yahmed today died from COVID-19 at the age of 93.

A graduate in Business Studies (HEC Paris), Ben Yahmed had a profession that was both ministerial and journalistic.

At the age of 28, prominently in 1956, Ben Yahmed was the youngest minister in the Bourguiba government. On October 17, 1960, he established the newspaper “Afrique Action” which in 1963 became the weekly “Jeune Afrique”.
