A decree issued by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad setting the composition and powers of the content and event committee stemming from the National Organising Committee of the 18th Francophonie Summit in Djerba was published in the last issue of the Official Journal of the Tunisian Republic (February 28, 2022). The decisions relating to the creation of units coming under the executive committee of the Summit were also published in the Official Gazette. Article 10 of the Presidential Decree No. 65 of January 31, 2022 on the creation of the National Organising Committee of the 18th Francophonie Summit, due in Djerba this year provides for the creation of a committee in charge of content and events and an executive committee of the Summit. This committee will be tasked with drafting the final document of the Summit, setting the agenda of side events and coordinating with the steering committee stemming from the International Organisation of La Francophonie (OIF). The powers of this committee include participation in the elaboration of topics on the agenda of the 18th Summit and the development of initiatives and action programmes that will submitted to the proceedings of the Summit. The committee in charge of content and events will help put in place a mechanism to follow up and implement summit decisions. It is also entrusted with coordination with various ministerial and administrative structures, civil society and international organisations so as to set the agenda of side events. (TAP) |
