Tunisia-French Embassy in Tunisia denies Marzouk’s statements

The French embassy in Tunisia dismissed the statements, this Friday, December 18, 2020, of the president of the Machrou Tounes movement, Mohsen Marzouk on Mosaique FM.

Marzouk had reported that the President of the Republic, Kais Saïed communicated his dissatisfaction to the French Ambassador, André Parant, with the visit made by the Prime minister, Hichem Mechihci.

Below is a press release issued by the French Embassy:

The French Embassy categorically denies the remarks made today on the Midi Show broadcast on Mosaïque FM regarding the visit of the Tunisian head of government to Paris and regrets the instrumentalisation of which it is the object.

The head of government, Mr Mechichi, paid a working visit to Paris during which he met with his French counterpart, Mr. Jean Castex, the presidents of the National Assembly and the Senate, and with the MEDEF representatives, in order to plan the next High Cooperation Council, which is to be held in Tunis in March 2021.

This major deadline will make it possible to concretely translate the new momentum of the privileged cooperation between France and Tunisia, for the benefit of the two peoples, in accordance with the orientations set by Presidents Macron and Saïed during the visit of the Tunisian President to Paris in June 2020.
