Tunisia-Gaza:ONAT threatens to suspend its membership in International Union of Lawyersthreatens to suspend its membership in the International Union of Lawyers

The National Order of Lawyers of Tunisia (ONAT) reported, Thursday, that it intends to permanently suspend its membership in the International Union of Lawyers (UIA), in the event that it does not relinquish its position in favour of the Zionist entity.

The ONAT also declared its boycott of the work of the International Congress of the Union planned for October 25 to 29, in Rome.

The Onat protests against the position of the UIA which goes against the principles and values of the Tunisian bar, we read in a letter addressed, Thursday, to the president of the Union, by the president of the lawyers.

The Bar Association likewise denounces the position of the UIA in favor of the Zionist aggression against Gaza, urging it to revise this position and refer to the noble principles of the Union.

In a statement published on October 12, the International Union of Lawyers “condemned with the greatest firmness the attacks carried out by the Palestinian resistance in Israel.”
