Tunisia-Ghannouchi believes in Nabil Karoui innocence

In an exclusive interview broadcasted on Al Araby TV, House speaker and Ennahda party leader Rached Ghnnouchi expressed his belief in the innocence of Nabil Karoui and thinks that he will be discharged  “with his head held high and with honour” because on the one hand, he has “in good faith” and on the other hand, he has confidence in the independence of the judiciary.

Ghannouchi also addressed his candidacy for the presidency of the Ennahdha movement, stressing to respect the internal rules of the movement, which prevent him from running again, maintaining not to alter it during the next conference of the movement.

He estimated that the resolution of the Revolution is “positive” and that it signifies a model of “Tunisian” success in the Arab world with its continuous struggle for democracy, freedom of the press and fair and transparent elections. Nonetheless, he mentioned that “the aspirations of Tunisians are higher than what has been accomplished ” and that “the fall of the dictatorship does not mean that the objectives of the Revolution were achieved concurrently “.

Ghannouchi likewise questioned the electoral law and not the Constitution, as to the dispersion within Parliament, remarking that his party had submitted a legislative initiative aimed at modifying it, in particular by raising the 5% threshold.

On the Moroccan Justice and Development Party’s support for Morocco’s decision to normalize with Israel, Ghannouchi proclaimed it “unfortunate.” Affirming that in Tunisia, there is a popular consensus declining all forms of normalization with the Zionist entity.
