Tunisia-Ghannouchi: Our problem is not Saïed but his political regime

Ennahdha leader Rached Ghannouchi, indicated, in an interview with the Anadolu press agency, that adapting to the “coup d’etat” and to a “Constitution which consolidates individual power” is not on the order of the day. “There is nothing personal with Kais Saïed. Our issue is with a political regime that concentrates all the powers in the hands of a single person (…) Its constitution is deserving of a sultan, while Islamic reform is founded on the idea that the dictatorship has stopped Muslims from progressing,” he added.

“Coups and dictatorship do not bring any good to the people. Those who believe that dictatorship brings development and progress are mistaken. The Tunisian people insist on returning to freedom and democracy, not necessarily to the 24 July 2021,” he concluded.
