The Redhead bird may have been included in the red list of critically endangered species being on the verge of possible extinction globally, but it has been sighted more recently in Djerba. The discovery was made by the Friends of Birds Association (AAO/BirdLife Tunisia) in collaboration with a joint team from Libya, Egypt and Saudi Arabia.
